I would assume so. A number of boxers are hospitalized after fights and they wear much heavier gloves.
Also, a kick from a barefoot can inflict a fierce amount of internal damage.
I would assume most fighters are cleared by medics at the venue but still go to a hospital to get checked out. I’ve been to the hospital after a amateur fight due to a broken nose and dislocated jaw.

Ufc first came out there were virtually no rules so most fights ended up in the hospital.
